These two Heliogravures are by master photographers Erwin Blumenfeld and Willy Maywald of Auguste Renoir and Richard Guino’s sculpture of Venus Victrix or Victorius Venus. The collaboration between the painter and the sculptor resulted in this beautiful sculpture - one shown here in front of the Petit-Palais in Paris and the other in Renoir’s private garden. The two images would look great framed and hung next to each other - great juxtapositions of the two sides of the sculpture, dark and light, chiaroscuro. These images are from the wonderful art “magazine” Verve. These particular images are from Vol. 1, No. 2 of the magazine which was printed in Paris in Spring of 1938. They are in excellent condition.
