Mizuno Toshikata Panel No. 1 A Tea Ceremony Periwinkle, 1896-1897, 9.5x14in., 1st Edition Original Woodblock Prints
This is a original 1st Edition print in a series of 16 panels. The original set consists of sixteen prints covering an entire day's tea gathering, from early morning preparations and the arrival of three guests, through the guests' departure in the early evening.
Mizuno Toshikata (1866-1908) was born on March 6, 1866 in Tokyo. When he was 13 years old, his father sent him to the printmaking school. He was also apprenticed to a ceramic painter.
