1882 Harper’s Weekly ad for a luxurious new 300 room hotel in the Adirondacks that was built to be a retreat for high society. Thomas Edison provided the electricity, it’s own aqueduct from Crystal Lake for pure water, telegraph service, billiards, Bowling alley, Shooting Range, Tennis, Boating, live music every night were just some of the amenities. With such a short season, the hotel was not solvent and closed in 1903.
