This is a wonderful vintage woodblock print that originally featured in Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper and is based on a sketch from a staff artist. The print shows the cod fishery at Newfoundland, where a fisherman is extracting the livers of the fish to then be made into cod liver oil (fish oil). Cod liver oil is a dietary supplement and as with most fish oils, contains important Omega-3 fatty acids. Excellent condition. Dated October 31, 1885. 15.5x10.25”
